LETTER 259 – IN THE RAIN
IN THE RAIN
© RYAN GUILEY
I want to dance in the rain,
Hold you tightly in my arms,
As your mascara drips down,
Slowly, wiping it under your eyes.
Where your hair dangles in knots,
As you shiver with certainty,
Knowing that I was always there,
Guiding you for the last six years.
The rain will pour so hard,
Puddles will form with wetness,
As your cheeks will be cold,
Until I place my palms,
Staring in those brown eyes,
Thanking them for watching me.
Together, we will be shining,
As my lips will get closer,
To kiss you with gratitude,
Knowing that what we have,
Is so special and a blessing.
As your heart necklace dangles,
The one I gave to you,
19 years ago, with a promise,
The tarnish of the sterling silver,
Will be brand new, as we will ignite.
Slowly you will gasp for air,
As our lips will be steaming,
A new diamond ring will illuminate,
As I will be holding your hand,
Telling you that “Love is forever”,
As our hearts will beat so fast,
A proposal to always thank you.
For what we have sacrificed,
The time lost and the pain,
But I will clear those feelings,
To make you never forget,
Why we met, as teenagers,
From that day forward,
Our lives were set in stone.
